RKM LOGISTICS PTY LTD tracks freight movements by collecting milestone events from carriers, airlines, shipping lines, terminals, customs brokers, and road transport providers. The terminology below matches what we use in client updates so you can align production schedules, warehouse labour, and customer promise dates with transit progress.

Status data originates from third-party systems. While we validate obvious inconsistencies against booking records, timestamps may lag real-world events during terminal congestion, public holidays, or IT outages at ports. When a milestone appears stale, contact our Acacia Ridge office with your reference number rather than assuming cargo is idle.

Common status definitions

  • Booking confirmed — Carrier space or equipment is reserved; cut-off dates for documentation and gate-in apply.
  • Cargo received / gate-in — Full container or LCL cargo accepted at a depot or terminal; export documentation should be finalised.
  • Departed origin — Vessel sailed or flight departed the export gateway; estimated arrival times become more reliable.
  • In transit — Cargo en route, which may include transshipment at an intermediate port or hub airport.
  • Arrived destination — Vessel berthed or flight landed; import clearance and terminal handling follow.
  • Customs status — Entry lodged, under review, released, or held for inspection; broker messages may accompany this stage.
  • Available for pickup — Cargo ready at terminal or CFS; road transport must be booked to avoid demurrage or storage charges.
  • Out for delivery — Final mile transport en route to consignee address or your warehouse.
  • Delivered / POD — Proof of delivery captured with date, time, and signatory where obtainable.

Ocean-specific events

Full container load (FCL) shipments report container number, vessel voyage, and empty return separately from import pickup. Less than container load (LCL) cargo may show deconsolidation at a container freight station (CFS) distinct from vessel arrival. Storage charges accrue if road transport is not booked before free time expires — we advise free-time windows when terminals publish them.

Rolled bookings occur when vessels reach capacity or omit ports. We notify clients promptly with revised ETD and ETA options and rebook when instructed.

Air-specific events

Air freight milestones include acceptance at origin, flight departure, arrival, breakdown, and customs clearance. Cut-off times are tighter than ocean; late document amendments may miss the intended flight. Deferred shipments may move on the next available service unless you authorise charter or premium options.

Road and domestic legs

Linehaul and metro deliveries report pickup, in transit, and delivered statuses. Oversize loads may include permit confirmation as a preliminary milestone. Chain-of-responsibility requirements mean weight declarations must be accurate before pickup is authorised.

How we communicate updates

We send updates by email or telephone according to your preference recorded on the shipment file. High-priority exceptions — rolled vessels, flight cancellations, or inspection holds — are communicated as soon as we verify facts with carriers or brokers. Routine progression may be summarised in daily or end-of-week bundles for clients with multiple active consignments.

Your coordinator supplies milestone updates by email or telephone and can share carrier tracking links where carriers make them available.

Documentation holds

Sometimes status appears “on hold” because invoices, packing lists, or certificates do not match transport bills. We work with you and suppliers to correct documents before customs lodgement. Preventive document review at booking stage reduces these delays; see our Customer Information page for checklist guidance.
